Landowners Gather To Demand Eminent Domain Reform
On January 13, South Dakota landowners and citizens gathered together for a rally in the Capitol Rotunda in Pierre to kick off the legislative session and ask the legislators for a simple thing -- eminent domain reform for carbon pipelines.
HB1052 has been introduced by prime sponsors Rep. Karla Lems and Senator Mark Lapka and would provide Constitutional clarity and much-needed relief to landowners who have faced condemnation on a proposed pipeline route. HB1052 eliminates eminent domain for carbon pipelines and secures our private property rights for generations to come.
This bill heads to committee tomorrow morning. Please, contact your legislators and ask them to support this important piece of legislation.
