#58 I was Burnt out-Here’s Three Things That Helps
Burn out is something millions of people face every year. It can cause anxiety and depression and unfortunately it doesn’t just go away. I was burnt out, as you could probably tell from my last episode and here are three things that helped.
Take a break from as many things as possible
Re-evaluate what you are doing. Needs, Wants, Obligations and say no to something
Let go of the guilt and shame associated with it
Brene Brown is one of my favorite authors. Her work changed the way I thought about my past, my emotions, my relationships and the way I think about myself. She speaks about guilt and shame and for me, the two overlapped until I heard her quote, “Guilt is, I did something bad, shame is, I am bad”.
Just because we are burnt out, overwhelmed, depressed or whatever, doesn’t mean we can’t move forward. You owe it to yourself to move past the burnout.
Rebekah Lyon’s book Rhythms of Renewal: Trading Stress and Anxiety for a Life of Peace and Purpose talks about inputs and outputs. Inputs are rest and restore while the output rhythms are connect and create.
