#22 5 Field-Meal Hacks with Busy Mom of 4-Janelle Burns
Janelle Burns is a mother of four, field meal expert and manager of all things. She says she is not a super organized person, which is good because plans always change anyway right?
Janelle explains that she breaks up her day into prep mode, other time (usually used for canning, laundry or whatever else she needs to get done), field meal cooking, and running for kids’ activities.
Here are Janelle’s 5 tips:
Have plenty of containers to hold both food (like Tupperware containers) and everything together (like the lunch box itself)
Start with a rough idea of a meal plan then shop the sales
Stick to the staples, what does everyone like? What is easy? What do you enjoy cooking?
Need to keep things hot, without getting soggy? Wrap things up in parchment or wax paper first, then tin foil, then a towel
Use constructive feedback, what worked? What didn’t? Pivot for next week
Janelle also adds that between running for four kids with sports, activities and all the other things that pop up, taking people up on their offer to help out, pickup kids or do other favors is a MUST! Kids enjoy the time with their friends and we need to delegate things anyway, so take people up on their offers.
