#12 Goats, Autism, and Finding Balance in Farming, Family and Boundaries with Karen Goodchild
Karen Goodchild is a special needs mom, goat lover and fellow farmer. She got a couple of goats because her son could only drink goat’s milk. Her son was able to overcome a sensory issue and he actually took his mittens off and touched the goats!! Since then, he has been able to raise and show goats which has given him a sense of community, self-confidence, and a type of therapy in a sense.
Karen contacted me to answer questions in a Q&A style article for the American Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat Association’s Newsletter. I answered all of her questions and sent her back eight pages of information, stories, and explanation of stress, balance, and boundaries. Then, I got thinking this would be an excellent episode and hearing Karen’s story is both inspiring and motivational.
