#11 You Can’t Do It All- The Choose Two Method and Permission to Forget the Rest

#11 You Can’t Do It All- The Choose Two Method and Permission to Forget the Rest We can’t do it all. There is an amazing Tik Tok’er out there named Jennifer Fulwiler who talks about how never before in history have we been asked to do it all, until now. We have always had a tribe to depend on. They helped us raise our children, find food, cook, clean, talk things out, make decisions and we have always depended on others in a tribe or village. Now, we are expected to do it all and worst of all, we beat ourselves up for “failing” as mom or wife or employee or whatever title we hold at that moment. Screw “Mom-guilt”, the Choose 4 Method helps you determine what to focus on each day, and helps you forget about the rest. Plus, in this episode we ask 5 questions that will help you to actually make it happen and ditch the guilt trip. You can’t do it all, in the “Choose Two Method” the categories are: Spending time with spouse Spending time with kids Cleaning/laundry Cooking Choose two, be present with those. You have too many irons in the fire, you get to choose two. That’s it. Lower your expectation for the picture perfect clean and beautiful home and be okay with it. 5 Questions to help you ditch the shame and pity party and rest easy knowing things are balanced and eventually will get taken care of: What is my top two priorities today? What would it feel like and look like to absolutely kill it at those two things? What would happen if I ignored the other three? Can I have some sort of rhythm to help me automate the decision part of this? Example: Sunday’s are kids day, Monday’s are date night, Tuesdays you cook an awesome meal, Wednesday’s you clean the house, Thursday’s you do another kids movie night, Friday’s you go out with your spouse and some friends, Saturdays are a free for all What is something you can remind yourself of often to help you remember to be present and okay with this shift of picking two.   -For example: “there’s a time and a place for everything, be present, be grateful, be okay with the rest, be okay with the mess” If you enjoyed this episode, take a screenshot, post to Facebook or Instagram and tag me!
