The ambassador contest was a highlight of the 110th Missouri Farm Bureau (MOFB) annual meeting. Each year, a panel of judges selects two college students who will serve in the leadership role through the year ahead. This year, 14 young leaders competed for the opportunity, and Karson Calvin and Claire Walker earned the title. This week, we introduce you to Calvin, representing the Lincoln County Farm Bureau. He's a Mizzou sophomore majoring in agricultural education while serving as the MU Collegiate Farm Bureau treasurer and an MU Ag Education Society executive team member. The Department of Energy recently announced the proposed phase II of the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC). A list of preliminary, potential corridors includes the Midwest Plains, spanning 5 miles wide and 780 miles long across portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and Missouri. The State of Missouri received $1.7 billion through the federal Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program to bring broadband service to all Missourians. The goal of the BEAD State Challenge Process is to improve the Missouri Broadband Map so that the Office of Broadband Development (OBD) has the most accurate map possible to make funding decisions.
