MOFB is opposed to Amendment 3 on Missouri’s November ballot. On today’s episode, Scott Dieckhaus speaks to MOFB President Garrett Hawkins about the problems with the proposal. Amendment 3 would effectively legalize recreational use, sale and possession of marijuana for all people over age 21. Law enforcement and medical professionals say legalizing recreational marijuana usage would be bad for Missouri. The proposal is also overly complex and is written to benefit current medical marijuana distributors. Also, efforts like this should be statutory rather than chiseled into the state constitution. MOFB policy has long opposed the legalization of recreational marijuana, due to its negative effects on health, tendency to increase crime and correlation with increased use of other illegal drugs. Missouri Farm Bureau encourages all Missouri voters to vote NO on Amendment 3.
