Episode #173: Dr. Bart Fischer, Dr. Monty Dozier, and Miquela Smith (The Panhandle Wildfire Aftermath: Programs & Resources)

As producers and landowners are picking up the pieces after the Panhandle wildfires, there are a number of resources available to help.  This episode highlights those resources and provides information about how others who are interested can help in the recovery efforts. Dr. Bart Fischer from the Ag and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University walks us through the various USDA programs for which those landowners and producers impacted by fires may qualify.   Dr. Monty Dozier explains the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension efforts on the ground, including the livestock supply points.  He also highlights ongoing needs for those who may wish to donate. Miquela Smith, MPH, reminds us of the importance of caring for our own mental health during this time and reminds us how important it is to watch out for our neighbors during this time.  If anyone has questions or needs additional information or resources, please do not hesitate to contact me at tdowell@tamu.edu or 806-677-5600, our podcast guests (info below), or your local County Extension Agent.    Contact Info for Dr. Bart Fischer Email  Website Agricultural and Food Policy Center   Contact Info for Dr. Monty Dozier Email   Contact Info for Miquela Smith  Email Website   Links to Topics Mentioned on the Show Texas A&M AgriLife Extension - Panhandle Wildfire Relief Resources Texas Agriculture Law Blog Post about Resources Prior podcast episode with Stephanie Fryer Texas FSA Offices   Podcast Sponsors Capital Farm Credit,  AgTrust Farm Credit, Texas Corn Producers, Braun & Gresham, Plains Land Bank, Plateau Land & Wildlife Management, Texas Ranch Sales and AgTexas
